Bermuda Travel Tutorial

HOW-TO

Bermuda is a wonderful place to visit.  If traveling from the United States, Bermuda is a very short flight from the east coast.  Although many people incorrectly assume that Bermuda is a “tropical island,” it’s actually due east of the United States’ eastern coast and is not south of Florida, like many often assume.  When traveling to Bermuda, take seasonal weather into consideration.  I like to travel to Bermuda during the warm weather months because as a tourist, rental cars are not an option.  Only Bermudians that live on-island have cars.  Rental mopeds are available and that’s the most exciting way to experience Bermuda in its entirety in my opinion.  Mopeds and swimming would not be exciting during cold weather months though.  For people not wishing to “brave a moped” in Bermuda, buses run quite frequently throughout the day and evening (they are very affordable) and taxis are available too.  Keep in mind that there are single-rider and two-rider mopeds available.  That’s always an option if a passenger wants to “hang on to the back” and not have to worry above driving a moped.

The beaches are my favorite part of Bermuda.  There are an abundance of pristine beaches with sparkling blue/green water throughout Bermuda.  Bermuda is also famous for its pink sand beach.  The sand itself actually has pink flakes of coral in it!  Horseshoe Bay is arguably the most well-known beach in Bermuda.  It’s a great beach but can become crowded when cruise ships are in port.  Elbow Beach is a little further from port and tends to be less crowded.  For ultimate seclusion, check out any of the many public beaches that line Bermuda’s coastline.

Not a beach person?  Bermuda has great golf courses and think to do like Crystal Caves.  There are also plenty of old forts and other ruins to explore in Bermuda.

Bermudian food is some of the best cuisine in the world!  Be sure to enjoy a cup of Bermudian Fish Chowder and a Rum Swizzle while on island.  Most all seafood is locally-caught.  The wahoo, grouper, yellowfin tuna and lobster are just a few of the many amazing seafood options available in Bermuda.
